***CASE IN ARTICLE MAY NOT BE ONE OF THE TWO BEING ARGUED ON APPEAL***BY MICHAEL J. RUDOLF
Wyoming County Press ExaminerA man facing drug charges in Meshoppen, had his Thursday hearing continued until July 22.
Scott Ryan Faux, 19, of Mehoopany, was arrested on drug charges in Meshoppen on Thursday, May 27, while he was in the vicinity of a traffic accident.
He faces charges of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the criminal complaint, at 7:24 a.m. Meshoppen Borough Police Chief John Krieg was called to a traffic crash near the blinker light, where a car had hit the old Meshoppen fire house.
Krieg said when he arrived, the driver, a 17-year-old female, was in the ambulance being treated. She told Krieg that her foot hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, and she crashed into the building.
The girl told Krieg no one else was in the vehicle, but that her boyfriend, Faux, was walking and they were arguing.
Krieg then spoke to Faux about the incident.
During that questioning, Krieg reported, he noticed a needle sticking out of a sock in Faux’s pocket. When Krieg asked about it, Faux pushed down on his pockets to conceal the needle.
The complaint says Faux got irate and started yelling at Krieg. Faux refused to turn around and put his hands behind his back until Krieg aimed a Taser at him.
Faux was finally taken into custody.
When Krieg searched Faux, he found two socks in his pocket and dropped them to the ground. A needle with an orange cap fell out of the sock, along with a pen sleeve that Krieg said is commonly carried by drug users.
In addition, Faux had a red container in his pocket which Krieg said is known as a “crusher.” The container contained 17-1/2 pills, later identified as Lorcet, Vicodin, Enducet and Percoset, all controlled substances.
Faux also had an unmarked bottle in his pocket containing a large amount of heroin packets. He also had $730 in cash on him.
When asked about the items, Faux told Krieg, “It’s not mine. I’m a weed smoker.”
Faux is free on $15,000 bail.
